Media and Presentation Training - Open Courses
Friday, 21 December 2012
Business Development Coordinator, Sam Ellis, talks about TMG’s recent Open Courses for both Presentation and Media Training.
We recently re-packaged our Presentation and Media Training sessions and focused on creating two courses that we felt offered training in two vital areas of professional life.
Media Training focuses on understanding the delegate’s role within the organisation and on how to positively engage with the different elements of the media. Training includes preparation for interview, answering techniques and countering negative questions. We film all the interviews and these are played back for feedback purposes.
Presentation Training delegates are asked to bring along a three to four minute presentation. Highly skilled trainers guide the delegate through the experience of preparing an address and delivering it - again our cameraman is on hand to film the presentation and play it back during the session.

Kate’s speech and her subjects!
Thursday, 22 March 2012
The day Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge gave her first big speech, we were running a presentation training session for a group of young people- helping them prepare to stand up in front of an audience and speak.
Now, to be fair, most of our group (in the short term at least) won’t have their words carried live in the States. But there were similarities.
I think the biggest was the engagement. Kate looked great. She had dressed appropriately (magnificently) and she appeared genuinely pleased to be there. That’s a cracking start. Working with our group, I wanted them to soften their faces and release a smile – to demonstrate their personality and passion.

Why presentation training matters
Thursday, 2 February 2012
Presenting yourself is a hugely important and often unavoidable part of business. From having your voice heard in meetings to pitching for work, delivering training and job interviews, it’s important to get your message across clearly and succinctly.
Presentation training can provide you with the skills and techniques to improve your performance when speaking to an audience. Whether you are a seasoned public speaker or fearful at the thought of presenting, professional training can help you to build the skills and confidence needed to speak effectively and to give you or your company an advantage.

Today it suddenly dawned on me, that I have completed over 40 years as a journalist, writer and broadcaster. Three radio stations, two TV companies and four books later… I am wondering. Where did it all go? Well I am trying to remember it all and pass on the style and guile, skills and drills, tips and quips.
It is great to watch people I have schooled in media work like, Freddie Flintoff, Paula Radcliffe and Martin Johnson appearing on TV, plus various MPs and captains of industry, who have attended my courses.
